Dog Training Tips
Your dog cannot understand the human vocabulary. Although sometimes it may seem like he does, he is really reacting to your body posture. Your dog watches everything you do and reacts accordingly.

Dog Trainer's Tip - teach your dog one-word commands such as Here! Sit! Stay! in conjunction with an appropriate hand signal. Always start the command with your dog’s name to attract his attention. Avoid repeating the command over and over, you will just confuse him.

When your dog complies, be enthusiastic and generous with your praise! Dogs will want to do it again and again if he knows it pleases you!!

Crate Training Tips
Most new dog owners start out Crate Training their dogs. Their puppy or new pet sleeps, rests and eats in their crate. Dogs and puppies go in and out during the day when they want some downtime. They usually have a favorite toy or comfortable blanket to cuddle with.

Then, just when our dogs are feeling so safe and secure with their crate training, we the humans do the worst possible thing!!! We take it away! Yes, we think our dog or puppy no longer needs it because they no longer chew our furniture or have accidents in the house. We humans think that the crate is like jail to our pet and that it is cruel to keep them in it. We couldn’t be more wrong!

Our dogs loved their crates. It’s a secure place for them to be, a place they could go when the household got a little loud or too many people were running around. They can even start to become anxious when we leave them alone during the day, sometimes to the point of being destructive to our furniture and carpets again.

Dog Trainer's Tip - once you begin Crate Training, continue. Your puppy obedience and dog obedience success will be so much greater.
